Greek Orthodox Calendar 2023 Australia – Traditional Easter, also known as Easter and Easter Sunday, is the oldest and most important holiday in Eastern Christian tradition, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His resurrection is a cornerstone of the Christian faith because it proves that Jesus is the Son of God and symbolizes his victory over death.

As many of you know, construction work is underway on the monastery dedicated to Panagia Gorgopikos. With God's help and the faith and dedication of members across Australia, much has been accomplished.

A new katholikon (main cathedral) was built specifically for the Panagia Gorgopikos. There are two side chapels, dedicated to St. George, the room's new confessor, and to St. Porphyrios Kavsokaliviti.

On Easter Saturday, families prepare Marytsa, a soup made from offal and lamb (or kid) casings, cooked over the fire with onions and herbs (plus an egg and lemon sauce mixed in at the end. ).
