January 2023 At Disney World (crowd Calendar, Weather, Openings)
As if planning a Disney crowd calendar in 2023 wasn't difficult enough, things have gotten tougher in recent years, especially with the closing of Disney World parks and the return of all attractions, entertainment and restaurants. It took more than two years to come back.
To predict what will happen in 2023, we need to take a closer look at what has happened since the beginning of the restart phase.
As attendance levels have increased since the parks reopened, we will analyze whether we expect them to continue to increase in 2023 and what impact this will have on attendance levels and wait times.

Since the parks reopened, any traditional Disney World calendar has been thrown out the window, as attendance has been difficult to predict with any reliability until now.
Some of our predictions for 2022 came true (visitors returned to Walt Disney World in a big way), however, with many unpredictable factors, we were also very wrong. Any predictions for 2023 should be taken with a grain of salt, because the past two years have made understanding the crowd harder than ever, and we're not perfect.
2022 is an interesting year to say the least, and we don't know what the audience level will be like throughout the year. There are many unknowns, such as the current health crisis, the economy and the willingness of guests to travel in general. But over the years, it has become clear that people do not slow down when it comes to vacationing or visiting "the most magical place on earth."
Disney World Crowd Calendar 2023
Walt Disney World is undergoing a progressive relaunch in 2020, starting with Disney's Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. We haven't received an official statement from Disney or anything, but the popular security restrictions track has been around for a long time. It has since disappeared from the Disney World website.
However, things are still not back to normal and park capacity is currently limited due to staff shortages in the Orlando area.
Last year in general, the audience level was very high and you could not say that there was a slowdown in attendance. Almost every time we went, the crowd levels seemed normal compared to what they normally are. This is very different from 2021 and especially 2020, where theme parks sometimes resemble ghost towns and many attractions have no more than a 15-20 minute wait for a ride.
Disney World In April (2023)
Things picked up in 2022 and the parks are busier than we're used to in January. Subsequently, the month of February saw an even greater increase in traffic and reached a level that could not wait for this time of the year.
Things pick up in March and April as people start traveling more for spring break and Easter. The parks were very busy during these months and even at reduced capacity the parks seemed full.
May is quiet and our favorite month to visit since last year, we have very happy guests and very short waiting times. Things picked up in June and continued into July, where normal Disney World crowd levels were seen again. Much of this has to do with increasing the capacity of theme parks and once again returning entertainment options to the parks.
Crowd Calendar Analysis: A Look At The 2021 2022 School Schedules
If you really want to see the numbers, our friends at Thrill-data.com have some great graphs where you can see the steady increase in wait times throughout the year.
The chart above shows Magic Kingdom wait times starting in 2021 and ending in November 2022. We updated this story before December 2022, but park reservations and hotel occupancy ensure it's another crazy holiday season.
You can see that the average wait for an attraction in August/September 2021 is about 15 minutes, but after 2022, the average waiting time reaches 35 minutes or more.

Like every year there is a small drop in August and a big drop in September. In fact, the average wait time for attractions in all 4 parks in September was between 25 and 40 minutes, a big difference from a few months ago.
October is one of the busiest months of the year, because many years are headed in this direction.
Although it is not fully reflected in the graph since the month I took these screenshots was not even finished, the crowd continued in the holiday season in November. There is no doubt that December will be the same and the parks will be full as usual. Both months top our busiest months chart.

Does this mean the population will continue to grow until 2023 and beyond? Yes, we think there is a good chance that will happen.
From September to December, spring and summer vacations and school hours are always busy. However, the increase we have seen over the past year has been greater as people return to normal with many traveling on vacation and park capacity approaching 100%.
The low a few years ago was due to several factors. Many domestic travelers were initially hesitant to make the trip, but after a few months of seeing the changes and how Disney handled the process they decided they were more comfortable with the idea. Removing these procedures, such as wearing masks, may have helped attract guests who were already willing to wait.
The Best Times To Visit Disney World In 2023
Additionally, many DVC members had to use points on canceled trips in 2020 and 2021 and travel to Disney World last year to avoid losing their points.
Disney has greatly increased park attendance, and while Disney hasn't publicly commented on that yet, it must be 90% or higher, because we can't tell what it was before 2020.
Yes, guests are not yet using Disney's new Park Pass system to make park reservations, and the daily number is limited, but that's not a problem unless you're waiting last minute or trying to get in.
