Wright State Spring 2023 Calendar
Wright State Spring 2023 Calendar – The RaiderConnect website is an integral part of the enrollment service system for incoming and current students. RaiderConnect is a one-stop resource for student registration, bill paying, and financial aid. With a large part of our base using this website on a regular basis, we have to constantly redesign and improve the site for each target audience.
Working closely with the Registration Management Department, we've been gathering feedback using a variety of user experience (UX) techniques over the past year. At RaiderConnect, we use a technique called "card sort" to help improve the site's information structure. Card sorting is a technique that allows users to sort data into different groups or create new groups of their own. This data is then used to improve the layout and content design of the site.

217 future Raiders who visited the facility participated in a card sorting exercise which resulted in many changes from the site's older version. Based on this data, changes to the old site's class and navigation level update the two new words Registration and Class and Article. A guide section called Deadlines has been changed to an Academic Calendar to help highlight this highly sought-after topic. There are many other changes in structure and information based on the information provided by the type of card. The resulting pages are much more user-friendly and visually cleaner, especially on mobile devices. In 2023, Wright State will make a seasonal change to homecoming week. In addition to hosting events based on the football season and club football, the event will highlight the Wright State basketball team during the spring semester.

Associate Athletic Director Brandon Hays and his colleagues say the changes after the fall will be changes in the Wright State community, but positive ones.
The homecoming committee, made up of staff members from student affairs, development, student relations, and student engagement and leadership, discussed moving house to celebrate the basketball team. After last year's delight with the varsity's first win in the men's NCAA DI tournament, 2023 is the best year to introduce new experiences.
"It would be great to bring people together again. It's a good time to try it and see what happens," said Hays.

The homecoming date was announced when Wright State received the Horizon League schedule. Homecoming will be held the last week of January, Hays said.
Hays said he was excited about moving to the House for the spring semester. He hopes this move will encourage greater engagement between campus departments, organizations and alumni.
In previous years, Wright State had not hosted an annual Homecoming, choosing instead events called Raider Days. In 1997, the Wright State community decided to make Homecoming a permanent annual event. Wright State hosts Spring Homecoming events, but some are one-day events instead of a full week.
Wright State President Sue Edwards Talks Admission Trends, Challenges
Brooke Leppla, director of philanthropy and marketing and communications, said the spring semester move was part of an effort to generate more students, alumni and community spirit.
It makes sense to try something new to reach more people to participate in Homecoming events and encourage them to support their students, says Leppla. "I think it will have a positive impact and hopefully start to create a deep culture that graduates will come back to in the future to participate and celebrate."
Dean of Student Affairs Chris Taylor, Ph.D., hopes the change to Basketball Homecoming Week will increase the number of events. He said it was important to tie Homecoming Week to sporting events and basketball just seemed right.

"I think it will be a change for some people, but hopefully his presence will increase participation and excitement," said Taylor. Despite moving into the Winter House, Taylor said she hopes to plan Spirit Week in the fall to have fall celebrations.
Basketball games are usually attended by between 3,000 and 4,000 people, about 1,000 of whom are students. Hays said he expected at least 9,000 people to attend an Immigrant basketball game.
"I would love to see the Nutter Center filled to capacity. We are always looking for opportunities to have an unforgettable atmosphere that fills the building. This could be one of those opportunities," said Hays. "Basketball games are the biggest events on campus, besides graduation. We want as many people as possible to see our very successful basketball program."

The 2021-22 men's basketball team qualified for the NCAA's March Madness, where they won Game Four against Bryant at UD Arena before losing to Arizona. The Wright State community came together to support the Raiders as they advanced to the national tournament, throwing parties both indoors and outdoors.
"Being a graduate myself and a proud member of staff, it has been amazing to see the momentum and support from students and alumni during our basketball season," said Leppla. "This will be another opportunity for students to cheer and show their Raider pride."
In the past, Wright State Week featured men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and club football. Hays said he hopes to host as many as four men's and women's basketball games over Lent Week, and hopes Empire will return to bring together more aspects of the return.
Update To 2022 23 District Calendar
In 2020, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wright State Homecoming Week events were informal, featuring drive-in films and online events, such as City Hall, technical integration classes and alumni speakers.
In 2021, Wright State is hosting several external events, but returning to in-person events, including Legacy Scholarship Brunches, Alumni Association meetings, pride events, and karaoke.
Taylor hopes the change to Homecoming in the spring semester will allow more student organizations to participate. In the past, much planning for going home was done in the summer, which hampered the ability of student organizations to participate, as activities only started when homecoming week took place. The switch to winter allows student organizations to participate in the process of planning and scheduling events.
Added To 2023 Signing Class
Hays said the college rally for the basketball team would encourage teamwork across campus. He hopes that the basketball team and the campus community will be an unforgettable performance for students, lecturers, staff, alumni, the public, and prospective new students.
"Homecoming will motivate us to be the best we can be. Admissions and enrollment management, student activities, athletics, marketing – we must all come together to provide the best possible exposure to prospective students," said Hays. . "It is in everyone's best interest to put on the best show the university has ever built."
The Department of Athletics is considering giving basketball game tickets to students who are accepted to Wright State University to encourage students to become part of the Wright State community.

"I think it's a great way to bring out the best of Wright State," said Hays. "Whether you're in your 70s or 80s and want to remember and see people from your college days or you're an aspiring college student, there's something for everyone."
In previous Mudik weeks, students, alumni, lecturers, and staff watched men's and women's soccer and volleyball matches and participated in other events such as Chalk the Campus, Live Band Karaoke, Trivia Nights, scholarships, fundraising, and others. . club party. and events, and Wright Day of Giving, a campus-wide event that encourages donations to impact all Raiders.
In 2021, more than 1,000 people participated in Wright Day to Give, raising more than $176,000 to give back to the Wright State community. The money goes towards scholarships and student support. With Homecoming moving into the spring semester, Wright Day to Give will be a fall 2022 event, commemorating the university's founding.
The Future Of American Democracy
Many Wright State Recreation Week activities take place outdoors, which may not be possible during the colder months. Negotiations are underway to move. Hays says the Nutter Center is large enough to host these activities while avoiding inclement weather. Clubs and groups can also host events on campus.
Hays suggested that Greek life meetings or other groups could use the meeting rooms, and other events—such as chili cooking or senior student events—could be held at the center or gymnasium. Another event is likely to take place on campus.
"There will be something for everyone," said Hays. "There's a lot of space in the Nutter Center, and even if you don't care about basketball, I'd still invite people over. It would be really cool."
Events For February 9, 2023
The homecoming event will be enlivened with the Alumni Achievement Awards. Leppla said the Wright State Alumni Association is looking at activities and events that interest alumni to encourage them to return to campus.
Leppla also hopes moving to the House in January will allow more current students to connect with alumni, and more alumni to connect with Wright State.
"The main goal is to build school spirit and pride," said Leppla. "I believe there is a real opportunity here
