Calendar 2023 Spring Break – The ISD board on Tuesday approved the 2022-23 academic calendar, which will see students begin classes on Aug. 16, 2022, and graduate on June 1, 2023.
The approved calendar was one of two forms presented to staff and the public to submit to a survey that generated more than 1,700 responses.
Calendar 2023 Spring Break
Both calendars prioritize student learning, include professional development for teachers, and include days throughout the year for parent-teacher conferences. Both options include a two-day notice to allow for parent-teacher conferences, and the official calendar puts two full days on November 7 and February 17. In addition, the calendar includes a fall holiday on October 10 and a new district. June 19 is a June holiday. The official calendar allows for an extra holiday on election day, November 8.
Chapel Hill Isd
According to the official calendar, students' vacation starts half a day after school on December 16 and ends when they return to school on Thursday, January 5. The vacation starts after the notification date in March. 10, but classes continue on Monday, March 20.
ISD's Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), made up of staff and teachers, provided input and guidance through community surveys before the two calendar proposals were released to the public. Both options meet all state requirements for instructional hours, including 174 days and 440 hours of instruction per day with make-up days if needed. The school district's 54 students, staff and teachers will get two weeks off next year at Easter. For the school calendar for the school year 2022-2023.
The calendar was the responsibility of Assistant Superintendent Matthew Monkman, who worked on its content based on public opinion and discussions with the district's joint staff.

"Our prioritization of academic days gave us two options to work with," Monkman said of the Break/Easter schedule.
"We had great feedback from our staff, the community and the parents of local students, so it was a great success."
The final draft of the calendar was approved at the recent SD54 board meeting in Houston this month on May 24th.

School districts in B.C. we must provide 181 academic days and seven professional development/management days (Pro-D days) are scheduled for the next school year.
The 2022-2023 school year begins on September 7 for eligible students and ends on June 29, 2023.
"This allows us to combine several activities over a long weekend, so parents and students can enjoy less of those four days," Monkman explained of the program.
