Education is the ultimate tool that enables societies and communities to thrive and prosper. We live in an intellectual society, where continuous collection of information and insights is essential to succeed in a changing global economy. Their skills and abilities in terms of interpreting and understanding information must be constantly updated. With the help of secondary education, a person gets simple words and thoughts, as well as the abilities needed to understand complex information. It provides students with the analytical skills needed to accomplish a variety of career goals.
Students must complete the required hours on their own – during lunch, after school, on weekends or holidays – and monitor their activities according to the director of the school guidance. Students should choose activities that are approved by the school, such as helping friends at school with work, helping in community sports, helping the elderly, participating in the community events, volunteering at a hospital or in the community.
Students must pass the Ontario High School Literacy Test, which is administered each year in March. Passing the test is an OSSD requirement. Students who do not pass can complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC). If the principal determines that it is in the student's best interest, the school principal may, at his or her discretion, allow the student to enroll in in the OSSLC before there is another way to complete the OSSLT. Students who pass the course are considered to have met the requirements to complete the degree. Literacy needs are based on the student's interest. Results are recorded in the student's record.

For each subject area (or general subject area), two sets of expectations are specified – general expectations and specific expectations. General expectations usually describe the knowledge and skills that students should demonstrate at the end of each course. Specific expectations describe needs and skills in more detail. Together, the general and specific expectations represent the curriculum requirements.

Assessments and evaluations are conducted in accordance with the standards and performance standards set forth in this document and in each disciplinary policy document.
All course expectations must be taken into account in teaching, but assessment focuses on how students achieve the general requirements. Achieving a student's overall expectations is measured by how well he or she meets certain expectations. The overall expectations are general, and the specific expectations define specific concepts or knowledge about the knowledge and skills outlined in the overall expectations. Teachers use their professional judgment to determine which specific expectations should be used to assess the achievement of general needs and which issues are addressed in instruction. and measurement but not necessarily measurement.
