Program Description: CLIP (CUNY Language Immersion Program) is a content-based program that helps students of English as a second language prepare for college. The program's emphasis is on reading and writing for academic purposes. Students in the CLIP program work intensively for 25 hours per week to improve reading, writing and academic skills and develop computer and research skills in the computer lab.

Program Eligibility Requirements: The program is open to ESL students accepted by the City University of New York (CUNY). Students participating in the program are expected to attend City University after CLIP. This program is voluntary for entering college freshmen. Students are placed after evaluation of the ESL-D assessment written test, which determines college credit or placement in ESL courses, or the CLIP program.

Academic Calendar 2020 21

Students may spend a maximum of 900 hours in the program: 300 hours (fall); 150 hours (Winter); 300 hours (Spring); and 150 hours (summer). Registration is available for day or evening classes.

Program Description: KELI is an intensive, academic subject-based program that allows English language learners to improve their spoken and written English and develop skills necessary for college readiness. Subject and project-based learning encourages students to explore aspects of American culture, and to develop critical thinking, and organizational and computer-based research skills used in college.

Program Eligibility Requirements: The Kingsborough English Language Institute (KELI) program is available to anyone (including F-1 visa students) who is interested in preparing for university study.

Program Benefits: KELI program benefits include: customized class placement; 25 hours per week of intensive study; field trips and class activities; Attendance Certificate (for students maintaining 90% class attendance)

ID card for access to campus facilities, including the Olympic swimming pool, gymnasium, library, computer labs, art gallery and performing arts center, campus bookstore and cafeteria. Students receive academic preparation for college (advanced classes are appropriate for master's programs); and CUNY admissions counseling and support; TOEFL practice (TOEFL waiver available for qualified students); Awarded 1-20 to meritorious students.

Program Description: A comprehensive full-time course that prepares students for the TASCTM exam. Develop math, social studies, science, reading, and writing skills in preparation for the TASC.

Program Eligibility Requirements: Students must be at least 18 years of age to enroll. and be at least 19 years old to take the NYS exam. All students enrolled in the HSE program must pass an official assessment preparation test before taking the TASC.

Cuny Sps Once Again Earns Spot On Military Friendly® School List

Fees: Fall semester (12 weeks): $565; Winter and Spring semesters (10 weeks): $470; Summer semester (6 weeks): $280.

Program Description: Targeted at out-of-school youth interested in earning their high school equivalency diploma, this full-time program provides academic preparation for taking the TASC.

Program Requirements: Students must be 17 ½ – 20 years of age. To qualify, students must score a 9.0 grade-level reading or higher on the TABE test, and write an essay. Each student (or parent/guardian) is required to sign a student liability form at the start of classes.

Program Description: Aimed at ESL students, the ESL/Food Handlers program helps students improve their English, learn cooking techniques and food preparation skills, and earn NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and nationally recognized ServSafe certifications. focuses on studying, and preparing for careers. In the food service industry. The program includes ServSafe and NYC Department of Health (DOH) food handler certification practices that cover health and safety during food preparation.

Program Benefits: The free program (for qualified applicants) prepares students to earn industry-recognized DOH and ServSafe certifications, and provides students with resume development, interview skills development, and counseling. , referrals, and helps provide job placement services.

Program Description: The Venture V program for SNAP participants provides job preparation and job placement services to qualified applicants who can demonstrate that they are actively seeking employment. Depending on individual employment goals, free English as a Second Language (ESL) and High School Equivalency (HSE) programs may be available to eligible participants, in addition to a selection of training and certificate programs. Training and certificate programs include Certified Nurse Aide (CNA); Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Certified Home Health Aide (HHA); Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS); Pharmacy Technician; and paralegal; Accounting and Direct Support Professional (DSP) programs.

City Mentors Information Session

Program Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible, applicants must have applied for or received SNAP benefits without TAF. If an applicant receives family support, they may not qualify. Applicant eligibility will be verified during personal interview and program enrollment.

Program Benefits: Training programs will be available to selected candidates to develop employability skills for growing workforce sectors. Participants receive assistance with resume development, and interview skills, and counseling, referrals and job placement services.

Program Description: Part-time courses offer full evening courses (Monday and Wednesday; or Tuesday and Thursday); or on Saturday or Sunday, for students who cannot attend during the week. Courses include engaging learning materials designed for all adults, including 3 hours of computer instruction.

Program Eligibility Requirements: Adult English language learners interested in acquiring or improving English listening and speaking skills in addition to reading and writing.

Program Benefits: Flexible hours available during the week or weekends to accommodate part-time students. Students are assessed and placed at the best level according to their English standard. The course includes 3 hours of computer instruction for levels 3-8.

Program Description: Become a certified phlebotomy technician by taking this comprehensive, hands-on program. Live needle work is performed. Students must sign an assumption of risk. (127 hours)

Program Description: Certified medical assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to help physicians' offices and clinics run smoothly. Students must sign an assumption of risk. (367 hours)

Program Description: These courses provide an overview of basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy and physiology, and outline the responsibilities for obtaining EKG/ECG technician certification. (127 hours)

Liberal Arts And Sciences

Program Description: Become a certified pharmacy technician familiar with medical and drug terminology, and understand the laws and ethics surrounding the pharmaceutical profession. Students must sign a hypothetical risk. (120 hours)

Program Eligibility Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent (TASC) and be proficient in Level 8 ESL.

Program Description: This program is intended for individuals who are currently employed or seeking employment in a healthcare office, health insurance company, or independent billing, and who wish to become a Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. . (180 hours)

Undergraduate Student Government

Program Description: A certified nurse assistant assists licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and registered nurse RNs in direct patient care. This challenging yet exciting program will prepare you for an entry-level position in a nursing home or hospital facility. (135 hours clock – 96 hours classroom, 32 hours supervised clinical experience, and 1 hour CPR)

Program Description: The number of jobs available for Certified Home Health Aides will increase significantly in 2020, making HHA one of the most in-demand professions. Home health aides (HHA) provide professional health care in the patient's home environment. Patients range from the elderly, the disabled to the sick who do not require hospitalization. This course is a perfect match for students who have completed Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) training. (82 hours)

Program Description: Using electronic health records (EHR) software, you will learn the basics of health information entry, including: clinical decision support tools, physician order entry screens and electronic prescribing. This course teaches students how to define, create, and interpret health information from existing EHR software, as well as manage and create detailed workflows.

Program Description: Patient care technicians (PCTs) work with doctors, nurses and other health care providers to monitor and care for patients. Kingsborough's PCT training provides students with the fundamental practical skills needed to make or acquire diagnostics.
