The Kansas Jayhawks basketball program is the basketball program affiliated with the University of Kansas. The program is classified in NCAA Division I and the team participates in the Big 12 Tournament. The first coach of the Jayhawks was the inventor of basketball, James Naismith. Naismith, ironically, is the only coach in Kansas basketball history with a losing record. The Kansas basketball program has produced many famous professionals, including Clyde Lovellette, Wilt Chamberlain, Jo Jo White, Danny Manning, Raef LaFrtz, Paul Pierce, Nick Collison, Kirk Hinrich, Mario Chalmers, Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid. Every coach at Kansas since the start of the NCAA Tournament has led a program to the Final Four. Four Kansas coaches have been inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame, more than any other program in the country. A perennial conference power, Kansas leads the all-time Division I in regular season games with 62 in 113 years of conference play (the MVIAA Conference was founded in 1907) through the 2019-20 regular season. The Jayhawks have won 20 of 20 games and recorded 11 of 24 games in the Big 12.
