In 1975, Greg and Tim Hildebrand responded to the whispers of doom with an open invitation from Ballantine Books to produce a 1976 Lord of the Rings calendar. The results were not pleasant at all. Rich and lavish, the illustrated works of Tolkien by the Hildebrand brothers raised the bar and set a new standard for fantasy art in the 1970s. Their record breaking 1976, 77 and 78 calendars introduced a new generation to the words of J. R. R. Tolkien and gave them their first insight into hobbits, orcs and Middle-earth . These genre-defining pieces age with age and have graced the walls of countless people for decades. This new 2023 calendar features 13 original artwork by Greg and Tim Hildebrand.
