The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all 193 UN countries in September 2015.
These goals are ambitious (to eliminate global poverty), but also comprehensive (including people, space, development, peace and harmony). The more people who know and support their goals, the more countries can achieve their goals.
However, on September 24, 2019, UN Secretary-General António Guterres spoke at the first Global Goals Summit, saying:
How The Iaea Will Contribute To The Sustainable Development Goals
We are far from where we should be. We are on our way… We must raise our efforts. And we must do it now… I am making a global appeal for ten years to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

2.1. Strengthen the role of the United Nations (UN) in promoting peace, security, equality, justice for all people, and improving their lives. Raise awareness among members of UN-related initiatives and promote the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) *, and inform members of the progress of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Global Affairs Group and UN representatives promote the SDGs. The Youth Program encourages the next generation to connect with the SDGs, and the Target Program and Foundation also invoke the SDGs in their work. Team members around the world help achieve the SDGs with projects in their communities.
To build on the efforts already made the SDG Marketing Team is developing activities to encourage Club Members to incorporate the SDGs in their club communications. There are many resources for organizations and volunteers to use, but researching them takes time. Also, not everything has changed to suit the Club. The benefit of this project is that the materials will be adapted to suit the audience. Selected tools will incorporate gender considerations. Other instruments will be selected to ensure coherence between the SDGs and the existing Targeted Programmes.
